Good Morning and what a lovely one it is at that!!
So, there's an ongoing battle at the house when the television is turned on.
If the Phillies are playing, we probably will check that out, then switch maybe to the food or travel channel. Maybe see if there is a good movie or some other show that will keep everybody's interest.
After a few minutes of this, though, I always get the request: "Can we watch a kid's show?"
I usually give in. After all, I remember all those years ago how much joy I got out of watching Rocky & Bullwinkle or Bugs Bunny or Spider-Man or Tom & Jerry.
Now, more often than not, the joy ends when we get to the new cartoons being shown. Things like some mind-numbing experience called 'Adventuretime' is the new fave. Not only is it annoying to hear, but I feel like my head is going to explode just having it on the television.
Don't even get me started on 'The Amazing World of Gumball' or 'The Regular Show.'
Now, I know there are always generation gaps. I don't think my parents particularly cared to see the latest adventures of 'Hong Kong Phooey.' This is different somehow.
Or maybe not. All I know is Bullwinkle had it right.
Good Morning everbody. Check here for your wake up call every day. We will have updated traffic, weather and few fun things to get you through the morning.

Rise and Shine --- Already?
Good Morning and welcome to a (bleh) Monday!
Is it just me or does the weekend seem to go by even more quickly now?
It seems like Friday comes along, then, before you can blink, it's back to Monday. It's like we are always running to do something, getting here, getting there, then BOOM, it's back to the weekly grind.
Work, school, homework, eat, sleep.
It just gets tougher to spread out the hours during off times. Then again, as I've seen and proven, trying to jam too much in during those hours can make it even worse.
So, there has to be a balance somewhere. It's finding it that's proving elusive.
Meanwhile, I'm still trying to figure out the MTV Music Video Awards. When you turn it on and the only artist you've actually heard sing before was Cher, well, it's time to upgrade the iPod.
Although, this was interesting:

Rise and Shine --- Don't get it
Good Morning and how did it get to be August 19th?
Somebody at work asked me the other day to explain Twitter. He wanted to set up an account because "everybody else has one."
So, I attempted, rather unsuccessfully mind you, to describe the so-called Twitter web and how you follow people and get updates one what they are thinking or send messages back and forth, but not everybody sees the message, just those that follow that person unless they want to make it private.
Ten minutes later we were both more confused.
I understand the whole social media thing. It keeps connections between people like we've never had before. Facebook has allowed me to catch up with old friends.
The other day on the Daily Times Twitter account, though, I saw a Tweet that said, "I am finally Mayor McCheese."
OK. Great. Now where do you go from here.

Rise and Shine --- We've lost something
Good Morning and welcome to what could be another action-packed weekend!
Way back in the day (again, talking about the heady 1970s), I had one of those grade-school projects where you were tasked to ask questions of an older person.
Well, the oldest person I knew was my grandfather (although, looking back now he wasn't that old). So, I dutifully took my copy book over to his house one day and asked my series of questions.
From what I can remember (getting old myself), they were pretty innocuous. Things like: What's the biggest thing you like about this time? (It's easier to get around) What don't you like? (People don't appreciate what they have)Who is the best Phillies player you ever saw? (Mike Schmidt)
Well, he died a few years ago, but, every once in a while, I wonder what he would say about our time.
Short of calling together a seance (too busy and it's a scam anyway), I have to imagine what the answers would be now.
I think his greatest lament would be the lack of courtesy people have these days.
For many, you can walk into the office every day, say 'Good Morning' (or afternoon or evening) and get no response. Some people don't even look up from their desk. Others may give a grunt.
Go out to a store and everybody is pushing. They need to get that orange RIGHT NOW. Or they need to get past you THIS MOMENT.
Then get in the car to drive home and, if somebody isn't driving right up on your bumper, they are trying to speed past you. Damn the rest of the people in the road, I need to get where I'm going or the WORLD IS GOING TO END.
So, while Mike Schmidt might be the greatest Phillie of all time and we have even easier ways to get around, we've lost something.
We need to get it back. We need to start slow. Say 'Thank You' to the toll collector. Take a different orange. Lay off the horn.
Then again, maybe I need a Ouija board because we have too much time for this:
