Good Morning and welcome summer!
I don't watch TV news. It's most likely because I'm inundated with all the news of the day while sitting here in the office.
I don't listen to news on the radio. I mean, the radio is for music and the Phillies. Besides, I get all the news all the time in the office.
The TV in the office is tuned mostly to news all day. It goes on at 5 a.m. and is turned off sometime after midnight. The cycle starts the next day and so on and so on.
One thing you notice is there are few new stories. The same ones are broadcast over and over again, especially if it rains or (HORRORS) snows.
I know, we do the same thing. I'm not making a judgement here.
One thing, though, don't insult my intelligence.
This morning one of the TV people said they put a call into the office of a government official. It hadn't been returned, the reporter said, and this reporter will stay on the story until there are answers.
It was 5:30 in the morning! Barely anybody is awake. I guarantee there is nobody in this particular government office.
I know we are all trying to get the same chunk of the advertising pie, but, come on. My guess is most viewers just gloss over such hyperbole, but it still goes out there and it hurt my ears.
I guess it's time to turn on soap operas.
Good Morning everbody. Check here for your wake up call every day. We will have updated traffic, weather and few fun things to get you through the morning.

Rise and Shine --- Stop yelling
Good Morning and welcome back to the Internet!
The normal course of business in the morning is to have the television in the newsroom tuned to the local news. We start out with Channel 3, then move over to Channel 29. Fox29 is the only station to run a local program throughout the morning.
That's where it all falls apart. Instead of reporting the news, some of the Fox 'personalities' went to the school that told them to yell everything.
Hey, you know, if you yell something than it must be true.
It seems a lot of TV news personalities subscribe to this kind of 'journalism.'
Check out Chris Matthews or Sean Hannity or Steve Keeley.
Whether they are talking about the economy, the president, teacher unions or even the Eagles, these guys like to yell. And yell. And yell.
It's like they have the volume turned down on their ear pieces. I wonder if the cue cards are all written in CAPITAL LETTERS?
How about we turn down the yelling and just report the news?

Rise and Shine --- Recut, cut and recut
Good Morning and welcome to the final Thursday of this week!
Don Hewitt, the creator of the television show '60 Minutes,' died yesterday.
There were many tributes written about the producer, including this one.
Hewitt rarely appeared on television, leaving the work to the talking heads like Walter Cronkite, Morley Safer and the rest.
There will be undoubtedly a lot of tributes and such about Hewitt in the next few days, especially since his death comes so soon after Cronkite's.
What Hewitt started in 1968 as a way to get national news into the local home has now been bastardized to the extent we have no less than four 24-hour news stations beaming to us from the great beyond.
We are inundated with news. We now know far more about Michael Jackson's burial than we really should. We get hammered over the head by the Octomom, by economic news, by nonsense put out there to fill time.
We even have a manipulation of the news.
For instance, a few nights ago U.S. Rep. Barney Frank held one of those town hall meetings to talk about health care.
Some wacko started spouting off about Nazis and held up a photo of President Obama dressed to look like Hitler. Frank shot down the woman's statement and then put her in her place, much like many more officials should be able to do.
Then the tape was recut by one network to make it appear Frank was tongue-lashing everybody.
So, if you really believe everything said on this network READ THIS.
Then watch this:
