Rise and Shine --- State of the Spin

Good Morning and here we are again!

So, if you checked out the State of the Union speech by President Barack Obama last night, you heard a lot about tax plans, economic recovery and the military.
Half the room clapped. Half the room, well, didn't.
If you had any doubt the rift in Congress is about idealogical politics, well, that should have been put out of your mind last night.
Imagine if last night's speech was like an Eagles game.
The president called for higher taxes on those who make the most money. BOOO!
The president said we need to fix the education system. BOOO!
The president said we needed teachers to stop feeling the need to teach to the test instead of teaching for real. BOOO!
Uh, OK, you people are crazy. You boo just because of the person saying it, not what he is saying.
Nothing is going to get done in government for the next 10 years. Mitt Romney, though, will keep making money.

Rise and Shine --- Maybe

Good Morning and welcome to another one of those days!

It's been kind of interesting to see how those who pushed violence over the last few years were the first to announce, in the wake of the shootings of the Congresswoman in Arizona, that it wasn't their fault.
Well, not so fast skipper.
Maybe the nut over there in Phoenix had a worm eating his brain. Maybe he was so far gone it was only a matter of time before he hurt himself or somebody else.
Maybe, just maybe, though, this Jared Loughner would have picked up a rock instead of a gun.
Maybe if Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck and the rest of their hate club weren't always pushing an agenda that made it seem like violence was the only answer, there would be less of this kind of stuff.
I'm sorry, when you put rifle targets over a certain area of the country before an election, you are asking those with the worms to do something stupid.
When you hold up those who bring guns to political rallies as some kind of hero, maybe you are part of the problem instead of the solution.
The great thing about these people who throw that stuff out there is they can fall back and say, "Hey, I never said anybody should get shot."
Like that makes it any better.

Rise and Shine ---- Bathroom break

Good Morning and when does it all stop?

I know we need the government to work for us. I know we need those in elected positions to make sure the country runs smoothly. I know there are some who want the government to do less, as well as those who think it should do more.
We've had the owners of Toyota pulled in front a panel. We've seen sports stars and recording artists answer inane questions.
Now, we have this to occupy Congress' time: The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee will hold hearings Wednesday on the "Potty Parity Act," a bill that seeks to address the shoddy restroom facilities for women in federal buildings, according to FoxNews.
Really?
A 'Potty Parity Act.'
This is really needed?
There aren't more pressing things going on around the country? There are problems with job growth, health care, the economy, sure, but we need to make sure toilets are in tip-top shape.
Here's an idea, flush the whole idea and get back to real work.
