GOOD MORNING, DELAWARE COUNTY
Hope everybody is feeling OK after those Super Tuesday parties.
Quick question: Do pizza places and beer distributors get a lot of business for Super Tuesday?
Turn on the talking heads on television and you would think this was the presidential election already.
CNN is trumpeting 'Ballot Bowl 2008.' Local stations are running scrolls with delegate counts on the bottom of the screen. We've heard more from Clinton, Obama, McCain and Romney than anybody really needs to hear.
For some reason, and maybe its because of the ever-important ratings, but television seems to have made everything some kind of sport.
Everything is a competition. It leaks down to all walks of our life now. Children can't just go to school, they have to take test after test. Those state tests coming up just can't be taken, schools have to hold rallies, bonfires, whatever to pump the students up.
Does that really make them learn better?
We can't just drive down the road without somebody coming up on the bumper to get somewhere quicker like we are living in a NASCAR race.
Making everything a sport takes away from what really matters.
We need to have fun. We need to laugh.
CHECK THIS out and think about it while watching the evening news
