RISE AND SHINE

GOOD MORNING DELAWARE COUNTY

The subject of airplanes flying over the county with more frequency has been a big topic of discussion.
Those who live close to the airport expect this kind of traffic, but it has obviously spread out.
While walking in Lansdowne the other day, I clearly saw three low-flying, passenger jets sailing overhead.
The bad thing about these kind of stories is they don't seem to matter until they effect you personally. While seeing airlines fly overhead is just the world we live in, there are some scary things going on here.
You know how bad it smells and makes your head feel if you sit in traffic behind a bus. Now, imagine about 5,000 times as much fuel being burned in less time. All those fumes have to go somewhere.
That's not only airplanes in the air, but they sit on the runways before take off, then shoot tons of jet fuel into the engines to take off.
Now, all that pollution is being spread everywhere. The noise is one thing, those fumes are another.
Pretty soon, we'll all have airports in our back yard. That's not what George Jetson was thinking.
So, while flying, ever wonder how pilots keep themselves interested.
